Behavior Standards:
Oak School students deserve a safe and secure environment in which to learn, work, and play.
The behavior standards at Oak School are based on building a school culture that displays respect for
learning, people, and property. It is the intent of the Oak staff to support and encourage each student's academic,
personal, and social growth, and to assist students in becoming responsible members of the school community. The most
important commitment at Oak School is that students agree to take responsibility for their actions.
- EACH STUDENT IS individually and fully responsible for knowing the rules and living up to the agreements.
- EACH STAFF MEMBER IS individually and fully responsible for knowing the rules, explaining the rules to his/her students, and living
up to the agreements.
- EACH PARENT IS individually and fully responsible for knowing the rules, reviewing the rules with his/her child, and supporting
his/her child and the school in living up to the agreements.
For their good citizenship, Oak students will be recognized and rewarded.
In these standards, behavior has been divided into four categories, each with a sequence of penalties.
The sequence applies for behavior during one semester. At the beginning of each semester, penalties begin again at the
lowest level. In cases where serious harm has been caused or threatened, or a violation of the no-weapons rule has occurred,
the principal will invoke the more severe penalties, including suspension and/or expulsion.
